Jerusalem War Cemetery is one of the smallest Commonwealth cemeteries in Normandy containing 47 burials including one unidentified British grave, and the Czech grave of Otto Auffarber.
The majority of the burials in the cemetery were killed in June and July 1944 during the push south of Bayeux to encircle Caen.
The burials include Rev C.J. Hawksworth, who had a serious accident while riding a motorcycle. He was taken by the 149th Field Ambulance but later died of his wounds. He had been with the Battalion since the end of the Sicilian campaign and was popular within the whole brigade so his loss was felt deeply by all ranks. His death is reported in the 6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry June 1944 war diary.
On a recent visit to the cemetery I shot a short video about his death

The cemetery is located on the D6 about 9km south of Bayeux just before the D187 near the village of Chouain. There is limited parking at the cemetery and care should be taken not to block access to the neighbouring farms.
